Authorities asked for RMRU’s assistance with a body recovery. A light plane crash days earlier had been found in hilly terrain near Corona. The recovery was quickly carried out.

Additional Note: The NTSB report (LAX97FA142) indicated that the pilot, who was very experienced, was flying at night with the freeway lights on the his side of the plane and the hilly terrain on the passenger side. The pilot failed to contact the air traffic controller to ask for an instrument guided flight when he entered clouds. The plane struck the terrain on the passenger side.
