A light airplane was missing from a flight that had started in Arizona and was to have landed at Cable Field in Upland. A C.A.P. search plane had located wreckage on the eastern slope of the Desert Divide. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department had called the team on a stand-by basis while Don Landells, in his Jet Ranger helicopter, checked the sighting. Both Don and senior RMRU members suspected that it was an old crash site. In about 30 minutes the team was notified that it was indeed, an old crash site.
