Group stranded on sandbar

Early Thursday morning RMRU coordinator Al Andrews received a call from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department that there was a small group of people stranded out on a sand bar in the Santa Ana River, and that our assistance was. needed because the R.P.D. helicopter would be unavailable for several hours. But, after discussing the situation, it was decided that since it was a clear warm day, the safest thing to do would be to wait for the R.P.D. Helicopter and then just airlift the subjects out.
