Man missing from Pine Cove area
We received a warning call on
Tuesday, August 1st, at 8:00 PM notifying us a
possible up-coming search for Kenneth Fry, 38
years old, last seen in the Pine Cove area. On
Thursday, August 3rd, at 3:28 PM we were called
out to start the search. RMRU searched until
11:00 PM and then continued at 8:00 AM on Friday.
The search was terminated at 1:00 PM on Saturday.
On Tuesday
morning, a jogger running along a trail in the
San Jacinto Mountains discovered Kenneth's body at the bottom of a steep
embankment off McGovern Road less than a mile
from Kenneth's home. There were no signs of trauma to the
body and it was originally unclear what caused
the death. Later, an autopsy determined that
Kenneth died of a heart attack. He suffered from a
cardiovascular disease that causes fatty deposits
on the inner walls of the arteries.
A memorial service was held the
following sunday at the Chapel in the Pines.
In addition to RMRU members,
searchers consisted of: 6 canine
teams, 2 Mounted Posse, Riverside Sheriff's
helicopter, Mountain Community Patrol, and RACES.
